One of the most unfortunate rumors about Drupal is that it is not well suited for great design. And because of Drupal's historically strong ties to the development community, let's face it -- there are some less than pretty Drupal sites out there. The reality though, is that developers gravitate towards Drupal because of it's flexibility, and the exact same should be true for web designers. As a front-end developer with an education in design, I never feel constrained by Drupal. Likewise, when planning a design with one of our top-notch designers, I love that their freedom in expression is never controlled by our technology or platform of choice. If anything, the challenge in Drupal is knowing how to harness that freedom to fit the parameters of the project.
